Conference on climate change and food security: challenges for plant health, plant breeding and genetic resources
The conference at EXPO 2015 in Milan aims to promote the long term sustainability of the food chain to ensure food security, and will debate on the emerging risks to high quality and health of plants and seeds which are also crucial to ensure sustainable and productive agriculture.

Event: EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement: an ambitious deal to boost both growth and jobs
The members of the EESC Japan Follow-up Committee are working together with their counterparts to present a concerted position to the authorities on both sides concerning the inclusion of a joint civil society monitoring body in the EU-Japan Free Trade Agreement, whose negotiations are now underway. The event aims to further develop ideas and provide a space for exchanging views, i.a. by taking stock of existing civil society monitoring bodies.

Consultative Commission on Industrial Change (CCMI) meeting
Adoption of the following own-initiative opinions: Fighting corruption in the EU: meeting business and civil society concerns; Shifting economics in the World, consequences for EU competitiveness; Prospects for long-term smart, sustainable development of European offshore industry and its relations with the EU’s maritime sectors; Effects of digitalisation on employment in service industries; Creative and cultural industries — a European asset to be used in global competition.

7th International Youth Camp ‘Dialogue’
The camp, organized by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe and the National Youth Council of Russia, will take place in the Kaluga Region (Russia) and bring together 150 young people from different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds. The camp will help participants better communicate in an intercultural environment and promote cultural diversity in their communities.

Regional Seminar ‘Promoting citizen participation in Armenia’
In Yeghegnadzor and Aghveran, Armenia. The seminar, organised within the project Support to Consolidating Local Democracy in Armenia, is part of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia. Mayors and councillors will discuss local citizen participation, including pilot initiatives supported by the Council of Europe. Citizen Participation Guidelines will be developed on the basis of initiatives presented and discussed during these seminars.
