Polish Presidential Elections
Last night Poles voted for their new President and the late polls’ outcome of the first round came as a huge surprise.
The incumbent President Bronisław Komorowski. related to the ruling Civic Platform, lost to Andrzej Duda, MEP of conservative Law and Justice party (33,1% to 34,5%). The third result belonged to Paweł Kukiz, a former rockman and activist, who reached unexpected 20%.
The second round between Komorowski, who commented on the result as a “serious warning”, and Duda is set for 24 May.
