EU «green card» system
National parliamentarians are discussing a new ‘green card’ system that would increase their role in EU law-making. The idea, put forward by the House of Lords (UK), aims to address the distance between EU policymakers and citizens.
Under the Luxembourg Presidency, starting on 1 July 2015, the proposal will be worked out in more detail, like the scope and the number of parliaments needed to trigger a green card.
