Agreement on Roaming surcharges
Early this morning, the European Parliament and the Council reached an agreement on a bill to end roaming surcharges.
The compromise is to end roaming by 15 June 2017. Existing charges will be lowered already now. But the deal also includes a ‘fair use safeguard’, which means that roaming surcharges still apply if for example a costumer permanently stays abroad with a subscription in his home country.
The deal also includes EU rules on net neutrality, to apply from 30 April 2016, but it is too early to assess how strong these rules will be.
