EU ministers will also discuss the preparations for the WTO’s 10th ministerial conference, in Nairobi in December 2015, specifically the WTO Doha Development Agenda and the ongoing negotiations on an environmental goods agreement.

First Eastern Partnership Trade Ministerial Meeting with EU and Eastern Partnership ministers and Commissioner Cecilia Malmström. Trade ministers of the EU and EaP countries will discuss ways to enhance further cooperation, as well to as how to expand the trade and investment flows between the EU and Eastern partners.

Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete in Algeria, sights the EU-Algeria Energy Partnership Agreement at the launch of the high-level energy dialogue EU-Algeria.

Conference Green infrastructure: a European success story with Commissioner Karmenu Vella. Co-organised by the EESC, Committee of the Regions, Commission, Parliamentary intergroup on Climate and the Parliamentary Urban Intergroup. The conference will be a opportunity to highlight the contribution of Green Infrastructure to Europe 2020 and exchange best practices.

Publication of the Spring European Economic Forecast
The forecast will cover 2014, 2015 and 2016 and will include data on Gross Domestic Product (GDP), inflation, employment, budget deficits and public debt, amongst others. This forecast focuses on all 28 EU Member States, plus the candidate countries as well as major trading partners.

European Civil Protection Forum ‘Partnership and Innovation’
The event brings together the European civil protection community to take stock of common achievements in the disaster risk management field, share best practices and ideas, and discuss ways of addressing new challenges together. Attended by Vice-President Timmermans and Commissioner Stylianides.

EU Agency for Fundamental Rights

European and national human rights actors discuss communications cooperation in Vienna, Austria. Meeting between the FRA, Equinet and ENNHRI to discuss their cooperation in communicating on fundamental rights across Europe. The meeting will focus on four topics: strategic communications; cooperating on communications nationally; effective communication with limited resources; and the FRA study on severe forms of labour exploitation in the EU

Tuesday 5 May
Launch child rights report ‘Child-friendly justice, perspectives and experiences of professionals’ in Brussels during two live radio debates with MEPs.

EU Military Committee (EUMC) Away Day, Riga
This meeting will be held in preparation of the upcoming European Council discussions in June 2015. Participants will discuss such topics as increasing the effeciveness and visibility of the CSDP, the development of military capabilities and facilitation of the competitiveness of the European defence industry.

This conference will explore how Enterprise Information Management can help public administrations to reduce costs and improve public services through digital transformation.

EU-US-Canada Expert Meeting on Critical Infrastructure Protection
The transatlantic cooperation provides information exchange on the protection of critical infrastructure objects and the coordination of strategic policy issues. Group discussions will take place in which the participants will seek solutions to various critical infrastructure threats.

Informal Meeting of the Budget Committee
The Budget Committee consists of budgetary counsellors from the EU Member States and deals with issues related to the EU budget.

Thursday 7 May – 8 May
High-level Seminar on Customs Matters
Issues which will be discussed at this seminar include: measures to fight the smuggling of goods and thus protect the EU’s external borders and internal market; international cooperation to prevent the illegal movement of goods across the EU’s external borders, including airports and ports; and the detection of goods smuggling schemes.

Conference on emerging technologies and human rights, Strasbourg.
The Conference will promote interdisciplinary debate with lawyers and experts in Human Rights, scientsts, sociologists, philosophers as well as other experts in fields concerned. For the Committee on Bioethics of the Council of Europe (DH-BIO) there is a clear need to look into these new developments in order to be able to respond to the possible ethical and legal challenges raised by these new technologies and their convergence.
