Monday 22 June
Euro Summit on Greece convened by European Council President Donald Tusk, to discuss the situation of Greece at the highest political level.

Foreign Affairs Council
EU ministers will hold a strategic discussion on Asia, focusing on Asian regional integration, EU strategic partnership with China, and better connectivity between Asian partner states. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will join for a lunch discussion, which will cover EU-UN cooperation, Libya, Syria, Yemen and migration issues.

Tuesday 23 June
General Affairs Council
The Council will conclude preparations for the European Council meeting of 25-26 June 2015. Ministers will also approve the integrated country-specific recommendations as part of the European Semester, which will be forwarded to the European Council. The Council will hold a policy debate on the better regulation agenda, and will discuss the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Monday 22 June

Commissioner Frans Timmermans receives Amina Mohamed, Special Adviser to the Secretary General of the United Nations on Post-2015 Development Planning.

Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva is in New York to take part in a meeting of the High-Level Panel on Humanitarian Financing.

Conference ‘A new start for Europe: Opening up to an ERA of Innovation’. In the presence of Commissioner Moedas, this conference will bring together some 500 participants from key research and innovation organisations to discuss EU policies on three interconnected topics: Open Science, the European Research Area and Innovation.

Belgrade-Pristina meeting on Kosovo. High Representative Federica Mogherini receives Prime Ministers Aleksandar Vučić and Isa Mustafa in the framework of the EU facilitated dialogue for the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina.

High Representative Federica Mogherini attends the meeting of NATO Ministers of Defence in Brussels.

Circular Economy Conference: Less waste, more business… your views matter! As part of the process to develop a more ambitious Circular Economy Package, the Commission is organising a Circular Economy Conference, open to all stakeholders wishing to contribute in shaping the European economy policy making. Commissioners Frans Timmermans and Jyrki Katainen deliver speeches and Commissioners Karmenu Vella and Elżbieta Bieńkowska also participate.

Conference: Reshaping Europe: Civil Society’s Perspective of the Europe of Tomorrow. Speakers will be invited to make very creative and broad presentations covering a wide spectrum of angles from the cultural to the social, economic, political etc.

6th meeting of the EU-Montenegro Civil Society Joint Consultative Committee. On the agenda: Assessment of the state of play in Montenegro accession negotiations to the EU; Debate on the transparency and inclusiveness of the EU accession process; Discussion on the disability policies and the situation in practice; Discussion on the current state of social dialogue in Montenegro, with particular reference to the Law on Trade Union representativeness.

Wednesday 24 June
Conference «Freeing Europe safely from asbestos». The event provides an opportunity to express political demands for a safe removal strategy, as well as the recognition and compensation of victims to policy makers and have a debate about appropriate policy choices.

Extraordinary meeting of the Workers’ Group on Better regulation. The Workers’ Group of the EESC is organising an extraordinary meeting to discuss the issues at stake in the legislative process reforms proposed by the Commission, aimed at “better regulation.”

Study Group meeting: Situation of women in the Euromed region.

Thursday 25 June
Public hearing and Study Group meeting: EU Strategy for the Alpine Region; Study Group meeting on Family Businesses.

LMO-IMI Conference on «Integrating migrants in the labour market: a win-win situation for both migrants and society» This event will be dedicated to the integration of legal migrants in the labour market (third-countries nationals coming to the EU for family reunification, work or study).

Friday 26
Public Hearing and Study Group meeting: State aid to firms: Is it efficient and effective?. In the context of the State aid modernization process, the European Commission has introduced a requirement for evaluation of a selected number of State aid scheme. The EESC is currently preparing an own-initiative opinion on «State aid to firms. Is it efficient and effective?» The public hearing will explore both theoretical and practical aspects of the evaluation process.

Conference: [Y] Factor – Preventing Youth Radicalisation: Connect. Innovate. Counter.
The main idea behind [Y] Factor is to tackle the topics and issues that concern young people by bringing together local politicians, young people, practitioners, the private sector, representatives of regions, cities and citizens for an interactive debate. The conference is based on two panels which explore solutions relating to “Social Innovation” and “Innovative Uses of Technology.”

Monday 22 – Tuesday 23 June
CIVEX External Commission meeting and Conference on the European experience of regional policy as a catalyst for implementing the European Neighbourhood Policy. On the agenda of the CIVEX meeting: adoption of own-initiative opinion on the European Citizens’ Initiative; exchange of views on European Agenda on Migration; exploratory debate on Towards a new European Neighbourhood Policy; exchange of views on Draft CoR resolution on the future institutional set-up of the EU.

Tuesday 23 June
Building inclusive societies: contribution from the European projects «Diversity in the Economy and local integration» (DELI) and «Communication for integration» (C4I). The overall goal of the two projects is to promote intercultural integration and to enhance democratic governance and security.  The conference will discuss innovative and effective approaches to the economic integration and contribution of migrants, as well as the fight against negative diversity-related perceptions and attitudes

Thursday 25 June
SEDEC Commission meeting. European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights

Thursday 25 June
Publication Annual Report 2014 on Fundamental Rights Challenges and Achievements within the EU.
As in past years, the Annual report provides concrete and comparative data on the fundamental rights situation on the ground in the 28 EU Member States. It identifies key developments, promising practices, and challenges in many areas of fundamental rights. This year each chapter focuses on three key issues and contains conclusions, making it more analytical compared to earlier versions. The report also offers a focus chapter on fundamental rights indicators and a chapter dedicated to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and how Member States use it.

European Ombudsman

Monday 22 June
The European Ombudsman’s 20th Anniversary Colloquium: Democracy and accountability in the EU: the role of the European Ombudsman. This year sees the 20th Anniversary of the institution of the European Ombudsman. For the first of two events in 2015 to mark this occasion, the Ombudsman, Ms Emily O’Reilly organises a Colloquium which gathers academics and practitioners. The event is honoured by the presence of the two former European Ombudsmen, Mr Jacob Söderman and Professor P. Nikiforos Diamandouros.

Latvian Presidency

Monday 22 June
Meeting of Ministers in charge of Vocational Education and Training, the European Social Partners and the European Commission. The main objective of the meeting is to further deepen the cooperation in VET all across Europe. The first part of the ministerial meeting will be devoted to endorsement of the Riga Conclusions on strengthening the European VET policy agenda from 2015 to 2020. With a view to boost the European Alliance for Apprenticeships (EAfA), the second part of the meeting will focus on the role of all the stakeholders.

TEN-T Days 2015. Ministers of Transport, Members of the European Parliament and key stakeholders will discuss the development of the trans-European transport network. Special attention will be paid to implementation and financing of the Core Network Corridors.

Informal Meeting of the Working Party on Development Cooperation (CODEV). Discussions will take place on the Latvian Presidency’s priority issues in the field of development cooperation, including the new post-2015 development agenda and the preparations for the UN Summit in September 2015. Particular focus will be on gender equality and the promotion and protection of women’s rights, good governance and the rule of law, and development cooperation with Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries.

Thursday 25 June
First Meeting of EU and Central Asian Ministers for Education. Meeting with Education Ministers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and the EU Member States, and representatives from EU ministries and institutions. The aim of the meeting is to facilitate the policy dialogue on education in the region and to strengthen cooperation with the EU, and to promote discussions on current higher and vocational education issues under the EU-Central Asia Education Platform.

Informal Meeting of the Working Party on Humanitarian Aid and Food Aid (COHAFA). The meeting will provide an opportunity for in-depth discussions on innovative solutions to humanitarian aid in preparation for the first World Humanitarian Summit in 2016. A debate is scheduled on a comprehensive EU approach to crisis management, taking into account the fact that most of the world’s current humanitarian crises stem from man-made conflicts.
